PIO and OCI

Also called Overseas Citizen of India, Person of Indian Origin.

Person of Indian Origin, and Overseas Citizen of India — statuses for people of Indian descent abroad.

These statuses apply to people of Indian origin who are not Indian citizens. For insurance purposes they are treated alongside non-residents: the application asks the same additional questions about time abroad and country of residence.

As with any non-resident application, it is reviewed by a person.
